Cabin Fever!

There's nothing like blending childhood memories with your children... or in our case, child :).

For Labor Day Weekend, our family headed up to my parent's cabin in Arnold. It was absolutely heaven for little E because the boy loves being out doors. This is a grandson truly after his Grandpa Wager's heart! My dad and I concluded that Botany is in Ethan's future. Here is a picture of Ethan with his Grandpa on a nature walk:

The guys went golfing 2 out of the 3 days we were there, so Mom and I got to shop and lunch in Murphy's. While we were there, Grandma read Ethan a book at the bookstore:

Here are some other pictures we took while in Murphy's:

We also visited the lake where we picnicked and splashed in the water. It was in the 80's most of the day which made it warm enough to swim but still pleasant enough to lounge in the shade. Here's Ethan splashing:

And a nap (passed out amongst the soda cans):

Thank you to Mom and Dad for a wonderful weekend!
We're looking forward to the winter season!!

Flowers for Dad, Smiles for Mommy, and a Snake on the Sidewalk

The weekend of August 28th, we celebrated Mark's Dad's 60th birthday. It was quite a party and everyone in the family pitched in to make it extra special. Our job was to make a slide show DVD of Dad's life to date, bring flower arrangements, and a chocolate fountain with all the dipping goodies! Unfortunately I failed to take any pictures while we were there, but I've posted some of the arrangements I made. Mom and Dad are currently in Alaska on a cruise... Dad is probably drinking his Beringer White Zin and Mom her Diet Coke as they sail into the Northern Lights. That's how you turn 60! :)

Ethan's latest news is that he has started sitting up on his own. We need to start thinking about baby proofing the house as he is well on his way to being mobile. Yikes! He can even stand on his own, although our saving grace is that he still has terrible balance! He is still a smiley, bouncy boy and growing more and more fun everyday!

One final update... our neighbors found a rattlesnake on their sidewalk and called the Fire Department. They found that it was dead upon closer investigation. Dead or alive, I keep my distance! Here is a picture of the firemen reinacting the scene (of what could have been):

Welcome to our Blog!

Hey friends and family! Welcome to our blog :)

After years of updating some other social network (myspace or facebook), we have finally decided to start a family blog. Mainly because we've come to find that I (Allie) spend way too much time looking at other people's pages and lives (I'm interested!) and with status updates.... I'm constantly logging on!

Now that we have a baby, I should really do more with my free time. I do know that our close family and friends like to see updated pictures of our boy, Ethan, and so we thought that by starting our own blog, I could still update pictures but not get sucked into the lives of everyone else on Facebook in my black hole of friends/acquaintances.

Don't get me wrong, I love you all... but you know what it's like when you've spent a few minutes, then a few more minutes, then an hour doing something that you thought would only take you a few seconds to begin with? You start to get the felling like you've just wasted time... and time is something that I am not looking to waste these days ;)

So, we'll try this out and hopefully we can still be "social" but not excessive! Honestly I think eliminating status updates alone will be super beneficial! We'd love to hear from you all!!

Here's a picture of Ethan in a hat that my friend Diana made for him.
(Thanks Diana!!)

He's rolling over on his changing table now...
